Global jacket potato chain serves hearty jackets loaded with fabulous toppings
Blackpool, England — CPM Partnership, owner of the SpudsToGo ® brand, today reminded the public that despite wind and rain its newest shop on the famous North Pier in Blackpool was open for Half Term.
Established in 2005, SpudsToGo, a registered trademark in the US and Europe, is a name known to millions of people around the world—many of whom may have never set foot inside a jacket or baked potato shop.
Alison McEwan, general manager of SpudsToGo said: "We're fighting the wind and rain, but as long as the North Pier stands SpudsToGo will serve up piping hot jacket potatoes with delicious toppings."
CPM Partnership and SpudsToGo ®, like any successful business, is the subject of rumours, some of which have no grounding in reality. Many times, these "urban legends" are initiated by disingenuous or envious people who harbour ill will when they spin their tales. Other times, these rumours begin innocently enough with people who do not take the time to check their facts. In the end, rumours have a way of snowballing as they pass from person to person and, unless checked, such fairy tales have a way of getting out of hand.
SpudsToGo meets all rumours head on.
This page deals with rumours that we have heard, whether circulated within the communities in which we operate or on the Internet. If you have heard any rumours not dealt with on this page, please tell us and, if we select your report for publication, we'll send you a cuddly Mr. Spuds ™ plush toy for your kids (OK, you can keep it for yourself if you want: just don't tell them!).
RUMOURS
1. "Potatoes are bad for you."
Rumour Response: Utterly False — Potatoes are a highly nutritious food. They are fat-free, cholesterol-free, and sodium-free. They are an excellent source of Vitamin C and provide important B Vitamins plus minerals such as potassium, copper, magnesium and iron. Potatoes are also one of our best sources of complex carbohydrates. One medium-sized potato contains only 110 calories. The potato is one of Mother Nature's natural powerhouses!
2. "You don't have any locations in the US!"
Rumour Response: True — As of today, SpudsToGo has not opened any licensed stores within the Continental United States. Well, it's not for lack of trying. Most Americans believe that a baked potato is just a side order to their steak. Others think that a potato is bad for you; but we have already dealt with that rumour. Still others are waiting for someone else to succeed before they try to replicate that success. What's your excuse?
3. "You don't belong to any trade organisations."
Rumour Response: True — SpudsToGo has long-considered joining various franchise membership associations in the US and UK, and ultimately made the commercial decision not to apply. Organisations such as the British Franchise Association (BFA) and/or the International Franchise Association (IFA) do not add credibility to any franchise opportunity: they merely report it and, in some cases, whether it's a deserving entity or not. SpudsToGo does not believe that our customers or licensed store operators should pay an added fee so that our company is able to claim membership in an expensive association. Now, a reputable organization that actually vetted the performance of all operators without charging a membership fee. . .that would be something. Oh well, we can dream, can't we?
4. "SpudsToGo shares are available for investment."
Rumour Response: Utterly False — SpudsToGo and CPM Partnership is a privately-held group and shares are not available for public investment. If you are contacted by anyone claiming to be trading shares in either SpudsToGo or CPM Partnership, please relay this information to them, and contact us.
